Fiji in the women’s and men’s team event final at Punjas Pacific Nations Cup 2019
Yesterday, Fiji’s women’s and men’s teams both reached the finals of Punjas Pacific Nations Cup at the Regional Tennis Centre in Lautoka. The men’s team lost two games to one as Heimanarii Lei San beat Raynal Singh 6-0, 6-0 while Fiji’s top seeded player and team captain William O’Connell (pictured) beat Heve Kelly 6-3, 6-3. However, the Singh/O'Connell lost in the doubles match 6-3, 6-3 to Ridge Chung/ Heve Kelly.
The Fiji women's team also lost two games to one in the final to Samoa. Ruby Coffin lost 6-1, 6-1 to Anais Saipele, while Fiji's Saoirse Breen (pictured) upset the tournaments No. 1 seed Eleanor Schuster 6-4, 6-2. The women's doubles match was a nail-biter as Fiji went down 6-1, 4-6, 1-0.

The 2019 Punjas Pacific Nations Cup has been attended by national teams from 13 different countries across the Pacific. Next month, the Fiji national tennis team will compete in the 2019 Pacific Games in Samoa.
